Dedicated to serving, with respect and compassion, individuals, couples, youth and families who are directly or indirectly affected by chemical dependency or the addictive process
Serenity Renewal for Families (SRF) provides education and counselling services to individuals, directly or indirectly, affected by addictions or mental health issue. We are a registered charitable organization, founded in 1983, by Sister Louise Dunn, CND, and Alexa Smith to serve family members of individuals affected by addictions and addictive behaviours. At the time, SRF was one of the first to recognize the need and deliver services in the Champlain region. Today we offer programs and services to wide spectrum of clients, as young as 5 to 85 and over.
2,500 individuals benefit from our programs every year. This is made possible thanks to our dedicated staff and more than 125 volunteers who participate in virtually all functions associated with the running of a successful organization. In addition, over 250 partners (individuals, health and social service agencies, social workers, medical professionals) refer individuals and work with our staff to provide the necessary support to our clients and community at-large.
Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, SRF operates on a grassroots budget of approximately $400,000 per year. In 2010, close to eighteen percent (18%) of our income was generated through a sliding scale fee structure, while the remainder was raised through community grants (14%) and public fundraising (68%) initiatives. SRF relies on the support of generous individuals and organizations to create happier, healthier lives in the community.
